The Thousand Lights Police have apprehended a 29-year-old man, J. Hariprasad, for allegedly stalking and harassing a 23-year-old woman, a resident of Thousand Lights. The duo was previously in a relationship but parted ways due to differences. At the time of their separation, they pledged to the All Women Police in Thousand Lights to refrain from further contact. However, Hariprasad persisted in harassing the woman, stalking her during her commutes and bombarding her with obscene messages. On Wednesday, he confronted her on Badri Street, verbally abusing and insisting she should only marry him. He also threatened to release personal photos from their past relationship on social media if she defied him. Following the woman’s complaint, police have charged him under the Tamil Nadu Prohibition of Harassment of Women Act and the Information Technology Act. Hariprasad has been taken into judicial custody.
