Exciting Milestone: NIT Meghalaya’s Inspiring Move to Permanent Sohra Campus by Year-End
After a long 14-year wait, the National Institute of Technology Meghalaya is poised to transition to its permanent campus in Saitsohpen, Sohra, this December, with the first classes scheduled to begin on February 1, 2025. This new campus promises to significantly uplift the educational journey for its students through state-of-the-art facilities. Features of the campus include modern academic buildings, hostels, dining areas, and advanced IT infrastructure. These advancements are strategically aligned with government policies to improve educational opportunities for Meghalaya’s indigenous communities.
As NIT Meghalaya prepares for this significant move, it also remains focused on upcoming important events. On October 19, the institute will host its 11th convocation at the State Convention Centre in Shillong. The event will recognize the achievements of 193 scholars, including 140 B. Tech graduates, 9 M. Tech graduates, 23 M. Sc graduates, and 21 PhD scholars. To honor outstanding performances, gold and silver medals will be awarded, with the best all-around student receiving the esteemed President’s Gold Medal.
The convocation promises to be a distinguished gathering, headlined by Suvamoy Saha, Managing Director of Eveready Industries India Ltd, who will serve as the chief guest. Notable guests of honor include Prof. Avinash Kumar Agarwal, Director of IIT Jodhpur, and Maj Gen Rajesh Kumar Jha, AVSM (Retd), Director (Personnel) at NEEPCO Ltd.
