Akhilesh Sahani Joins English Cricket Club: Exciting New Chapter in Sporting Journey!
NIRJULI, 17 Oct: Following in the footsteps of Techi Doria, the first Arunachali to join an English cricket club, Akhilesh Sahani is set to become the second from the state to do so. Sahani has been signed by Truro Cricket Club (TCC), which competes in the Cornwall Cricket Premier League, for the 2025 season. Established in 1813, TCC not only hosts minor county matches but also organizes first-class games, providing Sahani with a significant platform to showcase his talents.
Scheduled to join TCC next year, Sahani, born in 1994, is a versatile all-rounder who has previously represented Arunachal Pradesh in notable tournaments like the Vijay Hazare Trophy, the Ranji Trophy, and the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. His consistent performances for the Nirjuli Cricket Club, a leading club in Arunachal Pradesh, have carved the path for his professional journey overseas.
Expressing his excitement, Sahani shared, "This is a proud moment for me and my family. The years of hard work and dedication are finally bearing fruit." His move to TCC is seen as a milestone in his cricketing career and a beacon of inspiration for other aspiring cricketers in the region.
Tarh Nachung, chairman of Nirjuli Cricket Club, expressed his delight over Sahani’s achievement, describing it as evidence of the club’s commitment to nurturing talent. He noted, "This opportunity will not only benefit Sahani but also inspire other players to strive for excellence."
Previously, Techi Doria made history by playing for the Wolverhampton Cricket Club in the 2024 Birmingham and District Premier League before returning to Arunachal Pradesh in September. Doria’s international experience in the Ranji Trophy has also set a precedent, further highlighting the rising potential within Arunachal Pradesh’s cricketing community.
