Urgent Alert: Brace for Torrential Rain in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Nearby Areas
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a weather warning for parts of South India, predicting heavy to very heavy rainfall today in select areas. The regions expecting significant downpours include Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, South Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema, Kerala, South Interior Karnataka, Konkan, Goa, and Madhya Maharashtra. The IMD has also highlighted that rough to very rough sea conditions are anticipated over the southwest and adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal. These challenging conditions are expected to affect the coastal regions around Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and South Andhra Pradesh until midday, with gradual improvement expected thereafter.
In light of the adverse weather and sea conditions, the IMD has strongly advised fishermen against venturing into the southwest and adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal. Those currently at sea are urged to return to safer coastal areas. These weather advisories come as part of IMD’s ongoing commitment to ensuring public safety and reducing risks associated with severe weather events. As the situation develops, residents in the affected regions are encouraged to stay updated with the latest forecasts and heed any additional advisories issued by authorities.
