The 2024 MAMA Awards are swiftly approaching, and the first lineup of performers has been revealed. This year’s event, celebrating K-pop’s brightest stars, spans three days, commencing on November 21. For the first time, the Hollywood Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles will host the opening day with performances from KATSEYE, ILLIT, RIIZE, J.Y. Park, and TWS. The celebration then moves to the Kyocera Dome in Osaka, Japan, on November 22 and 23. Spectacular performances by ENHYPEN, TOMORROW X TOGETHER, IVE, ME:I, and TREASURE will grace the first day, while Aespa, INI, ZEROBASEONE, LEE Young Ji, and MEOVV take the stage on the second day.
This year’s extravaganza, sponsored by Visa, explores the theme “Big Blur: What Is Real?”—capturing the trend of blending boundaries across different industries, cultures, music genres, and technology. The ceremony promises to deliver surreal yet authentic experiences with artistically stunning performances, merging art with technology for a visual feast.
Nominees for the 2024 MAMA Awards have also been disclosed by CJ ENM, chosen based on global music data and expert evaluation, with the eligibility period from October 1, 2023, to September 30, 2024. A new category this year is Best Choreography, alongside the returning Visa Fans’ Choice awards. Voting rounds are scheduled from October 14 to 25 and November 1 onward, accessible on the global K-pop platform Mnet Plus and social media platform X.
The nominations span various categories. Notable mentions include ENHYPEN and ILLIT vying for Best New Male and Female Artists, while celebrated groups like SEVENTEEN and TWICE are nominated for Best Male and Female Group, respectively. Solo artists such as IU and BAEKHYUN are in the running for Best Female and Male Artists. The diverse range of categories ensures that fans worldwide will have much to look forward to as they cast their votes and await the dazzling performances this November.
