Union Minister Hardeep Puri’s Triumphant Pride: India’s Bold Response to Canada
Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri commended the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) for its strong response to Canada’s support of anti-India elements that have threatened Indian diplomats and community leaders. This comes amid ongoing vandalism of Hindu temples in Canada by Khalistani extremists and targeted attacks on Hindu-Canadians and Indian diplomats. The MEA’s recent statement criticized Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau for his alleged hostility towards India, leading to India’s decision to recall its High Commissioner and other diplomats from Canada. Puri expressed frustration over the threats faced by Indian representatives and praised the MEA for its assertive action.
Speaking at the launch of Abhinav Pandya’s book on Jaish-e-Mohammed, Puri highlighted the enduring challenge of terrorism and criticized the global community’s past indifference to South Asian issues. He called for urgent reforms in the UN Security Council, arguing that the current global governance system, established post-1945, is outdated and flawed. He advocated for India to gain a permanent seat on the Security Council, emphasizing the need for a modern and fair multilateral order. Puri’s remarks underscored India’s growing impatience with international double standards on terrorism and its demand for a more significant role in global decision-making.
