Shocking Twist: Baba Siddique’s Murder and the 2013 Party That United Shahrukh & Salman Forever
Baba Siddique, a former Maharashtra minister, was tragically shot dead in Mumbai on Saturday. A significant political figure and prominent Muslim leader, Siddique was deeply embedded in Bollywood circles, famously close to stars like Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, and Sanjay Dutt. His iftar parties were notable events, hosting Bollywood’s elite. In 2013, Siddique played a key role in reconciling one of the industry’s most infamous feuds between Shah Rukh and Salman Khan, stemming from a 2008 argument at Katrina Kaif’s birthday. At Siddique’s iftar gathering, he strategically seated Shah Rukh next to Salman’s father, leading to a public reconciliation captured by the media.
Siddique had a notable political career, representing the Bandra West constituency in the Maharashtra assembly as a Congress MLA in 1999, 2004, and 2009. He served as minister of state for various departments, including food and civil supplies and labor. He also held roles within the Mumbai Regional Congress Committee and the Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee.
Earlier this year, Siddique left the Congress to join the NCP, without providing specific reasons. Tragically, he was ambushed by three men outside his son’s office in Kher Nagar, Mumbai, and despite being rushed to Lilavati Hospital, he was declared dead. His death marks a significant loss to both the political realm and the Bollywood circles he influenced.
