The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) has empowered district magistrates in Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, and NCR areas of Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan to legally act against officials who fail to enforce restrictions on stubble burning. In addressing air pollution mitigation, CAQM reported 267 stubble-burning incidents in Punjab and 187 in Haryana between September 15 and October 9. To bolster efforts during the harvest season, CAQM has deployed 26 central teams to critical districts and established a monitoring cell in Chandigarh. District administrations and state governments have been urged to remain vigilant, ensuring effective execution of action plans to curb stubble burning.
