Shocking Crime of Passion: Enraged Driver Fatally Strikes Wife’s Lover in Guwahati, Masked as Tragic Accident
In a dramatic revelation in Guwahati, a government driver’s arrest has unraveled the murder of local fruit and vegetable vendor, Taibuddin Ahmed, initially thought to be a road accident. The incident took place on the night of October 3 near Pragjyotish College, and the driver has confessed that jealousy and revenge motivated his actions, Guwahati Police Commissioner Diganta Barah disclosed.
The tragedy initially appeared as a hit-and-run incident. However, investigations revealed the vehicle involved, a government-issued Bolero from the National Vector Borne Diseases Control Program, was used deliberately in a homicide. The driver, Lal Hussain Ali, was apprehensive after police connected the dots, with Ali confessing to the crime shortly after.
Ali’s confession revealed his resentment towards Ahmed, who was involved with Ali’s estranged wife, Anjuma Begum. The affair had driven a wedge between Ali and Begum, prompting hostility and premeditated revenge in Ali. Having married twice, with Begum being his second spouse, Ali struggled with his wife’s choice to live with Ahmed.
On the night of the murder, Ali waited for Ahmed to return from work and intentionally struck him with the vehicle, dragging him for approximately 400 meters before escaping. The 35-year-old victim succumbed to his injuries the next day.
Guwahati police have taken Ali into custody and seized the vehicle used in the crime. The case is registered under relevant legal sections, with further investigations underway. The shocking incident reflects deep personal vendettas culminating in a tragic crime under the guise of a routine accident, leaving the community in disbelief.
