Tensions soared at Cotton University in Guwahati after a nail-biting conclusion to the student elections for the General Secretary position. Nirab Hazarika, representing MNDP Hostel, clinched victory by the slimmest of margins, prevailing over his rival, Kuldip Goutam Sharma from RKB Hostel, by just one vote—1,045 to 1,044.
The narrow outcome has ignited demands for a recount among some students. An RKB Hostel student expressed their discontent to GPlus, stating, “Since Kuldip from our hostel lost by just one vote, we are demanding a recount. This is an injustice.”
