Empowering the Nation: CM Sarma’s Revolutionary Assam Schemes Transform Lives Across India
Guwahati, Oct 5: Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma has declared that Assam has emerged as a pioneer in administrative and developmental initiatives, setting benchmarks that other states are now following. Speaking during the inauguration of the Jalukbari co-district, Sarma highlighted how various state governments are adopting Assam’s innovative schemes. Noteworthy among these is the flagship Orunodoi Scheme, along with the Jala Shala initiative and the Sarmath Portal aimed at streamlining higher education admissions.
Initially criticized, the Orunodoi Scheme has now been adopted nationwide under different names, Sarma stated. For instance, Chhattisgarh calls it Mahtari Vanadan Yojana, Karnataka refers to it as the Gruha Jyoti Scheme, Madhya Pradesh as Ladli Laxmi Yojana, and Jharkhand as Maiya Saman Yojana. Despite the name variations, the scheme’s fundamental goal of providing financial support to women remains consistent across these states.
Sarma also cited that even Haryana’s Congress party is proposing a similar financial benefit for women in its election manifesto, reflecting the scheme’s nationwide impact. He emphasized that Assam, once a learner from other states, has now become an exemplar. “People come to Assam to learn from our officers and replicate our initiatives in their states,” Sarma remarked.
The Chief Minister asserted that the newly created co-districts would revolutionize administrative norms, with co-district heads possessing the same powers and responsibilities as district commissioners, thus bolstering local governance. Through these measures, Sarma envisions a more efficient administrative framework that other states will likely adopt in the coming years.
Sarma’s announcement marks a significant moment, showcasing Assam’s transition from an imitator to an originator of innovative governance models, promising a reshaped administrative landscape in the region.
