Urgent: MEA’s Crucial Update on Indians in War-Torn Iran-Israel Conflict – Evacuation Plans Unveiled
Amid mounting tensions in West Asia, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) through its spokesperson, Randhir Jaiswal, clarified that India has not initiated any immediate evacuation plans. Despite the escalating situation, flights to and from Israel, Iran, and other nearby regions continue to operate on schedule, allowing for voluntary departures. Jaiswal noted that while families have been in contact with Indian embassies, currently no official evacuation process is underway.
Jaiswal provided details about the Indian population in these areas, emphasizing the sizeable number of Indians in Lebanon, Iran, and Israel. Specifically, approximately 3,000 Indians reside in Lebanon, mostly concentrated in Beirut. Iran hosts around 10,000 Indians, including about 5,000 students. In Israel, the Indian community is composed of approximately 30,000 individuals, primarily caregivers and workers.
Regarding India’s stance on the conflict between Iran and Israel, Jaiswal reiterated the nation’s recent statement expressing deep concern over the situation. India has urged all parties involved to exercise restraint and prioritize the protection of civilians. The MEA highlighted the importance of ensuring that this conflict does not escalate into a broader regional crisis, reflecting India’s call for peace and stability in the volatile region.
This balanced approach underscores India’s commitment to safeguarding its citizens while advocating for de-escalation and dialogue. The Indian government remains in close touch with its nationals in the region, offering support and guidance amid the unrest. The MEA continues to monitor the situation closely, prepared to adapt its strategy should the circumstances evolve further.
