Tragic Loss: Matthew Perry’s Legacy Overshadowed by Shocking Guilty Plea in Ketamine Distribution Scandal
Dr. Mark Chavez, a California physician, has acknowledged his involvement in a conspiracy to supply ketamine to actor Matthew Perry prior to Perry’s tragic death. On October 2, Chavez entered a guilty plea in a Los Angeles court and now faces a potential 10-year prison sentence.
Matthew Perry, celebrated for his role in the iconic TV show “F.R.I.E.N.D.S”, passed away in October 2023. His death was attributed to the “acute effects of ketamine,” which led to his drowning in a hot tub, as revealed by an autopsy report in December.
Chavez operated a ketamine clinic and admitted to selling ketamine-infused lotions to Dr. Salvador Plasencia, who then supplied them to Perry. Text messages between the two doctors revealed their intentions to financially exploit Perry, with Plasencia allegedly referring to the actor disparagingly as a “moron” during their discussions.
In light of these developments, both Chavez and Plasencia have relinquished their medical licenses. While Chavez has admitted guilt, Plasencia insists on his innocence regarding conspiracy allegations.
Additionally, three other individuals are implicated in Perry’s death. His assistant, Kenneth Iwamasa, and friend, Erik Fleming, have both pleaded guilty to related charges. However, alleged drug dealer Jasveen Sangha has declared a not guilty plea.
Chavez’s attorney, Matthew Binninger, emphasized Chavez’s deep remorse and full cooperation with authorities. The court has scheduled Chavez’s sentencing for April 2, 2025. This case highlights the grave consequences of unlawful drug distribution and the tragic impact it can have on individuals and their families.
