Assam CM Passionately Calls for Bold Action Against Corrupt Politicians in Powerful Sonipat Rally
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has raised alarm over the escalating issue of drug trafficking across India, particularly spotlighting the recurrent seizure of narcotics in Assam. Speaking at a public rally in Sonipat, Haryana, CM Sarma underscored the troubling trend where, during interrogations, suspects frequently admit plans to transport drugs such as heroin and cannabis to northern states, including Punjab and Haryana.
“Every day, we intercept heroin, ganja, or other illegal substances,” Sarma declared. He pointed out that these interrogations often reveal the intended destinations of these drugs, indicating a systematic pipeline to Punjab and Haryana. He hinted at the entrenched networks facilitating this illegal trade, urging greater attention to dismantling them.
CM Sarma reiterated the Assam government’s dedication to eradicating the drug trade, revealing that in the past three and a half years, the state police have apprehended or neutralized over 200 individuals linked to drug-related crimes. His message was unequivocal: the fight against narcotics is a top priority for Assam’s administration.
In a strong appeal, he called on the public to stay alert and prevent individuals with drug trade ties from entering politics. “Anyone associated with such activities should never be allowed into politics,” the Chief Minister firmly stated, reinforcing his position against allowing criminals to influence governance.
This call to action reflects the Chief Minister’s resolve to protect the political sphere from criminal infiltration and maintain the integrity of governance. As the drug trafficking issue continues to pose challenges, Sarma’s stance underscores the importance of public vigilance and proactive governance in combating these threats.
Also highlighting another incident, unrest in Manipur saw a mob raid a police station in Ukhrul, further illustrating the climate of unrest fueled by widespread criminal activities.
