Heartwarming Victory: SC’s Landmark Decision Grants Justice to Student Who Lost IIT Seat Due to Fee Payment Delay

The Supreme Court has intervened to grant relief to a Dalit student who narrowly missed his opportunity for admission to the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Dhanbad. The student had failed to pay the online admission fee on time by just a few minutes.

A bench led by Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud, along with Justices JB Pardiwala and Manoj Misra, directed that the student be admitted to the Electrical Engineering course at IIT Dhanbad. The court emphasized that the student should be incorporated into the same batch for which he was originally selected and receive all the benefits to which he is entitled.

This decision reflects the judiciary’s commitment to ensuring equitable access to educational opportunities and supports the principles of inclusion within India’s higher education system.
