Coimbatore Triumph: Prestigious Quality Assurance Certificate Awarded for Elite Defence Aviation Supplies
Coimbatore-based MAK Controls and Systems has been awarded the AFQMS certificate by the Directorate General of Aeronautical Quality Assurance (DGAQA), marking it as one of the few private firms to receive this recognition, predominantly given to government entities. Sanjay Chawla, Director General of Military Aviation, highlighted this achievement, emphasizing MAK’s role as a tier-two supplier for defence and commercial aviation, including contributions to Brahmos and Akash missile exports. Saravanan Manickam, MAK’s Managing Director, announced the three-year validity of the certificate, which he believes will streamline production by reducing testing and certification times.
MAK’s entry into railway systems was noted as a new venture. Chawla commended the company as a “reputed partner in military aviation,” with his team rigorously auditing MAK’s shop floors and finding their quality management system up to standard. The certification allows MAK’s quality control team to perform self-inspections, akin to self-certification.
Under the Defence Testing Infrastructure Scheme, new testing facilities are being established in Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh, with the government covering 75% of the cost and industry the remaining 25%.
