Launch of PMKVY 4.0 Training to Address Unemployment in Nagaland

September 30, Kohima – Highlighting the pressing issue of unemployment in Nagaland, Anthony Ngullie, NCS Secretary of the Youth Resources and Sports Department, emphasized the urgency of combating rising unemployment rates through skill development programs. Ngullie addressed attendees during the launch of the PMKVY 4.0 Training at YouthNet Main Office in Billy Graham Road, Kohima.
The training focuses on courses for Mobile Phone Hardware Repair Technician, Assistant Installation Computing & Peripherals, and Drone Service Technician. Ngullie stressed the need for locals to capture the job market, currently dominated by non-locals, while cautioning against dependency and urging a pragmatic approach towards ambitions and capabilities.
Kethosituo Sekhose, NCS Director, reiterated that government jobs do not significantly boost the economy and emphasized the importance of entrepreneurship and skill-based trades. He encouraged the 1050 young participants of this pilot project to be dedicated, expressing confidence that their skills would contribute to the state’s socio-economic growth.
Nuneseno Chase, Director of YouthNet, called attention to the necessity of skills for graduates, indicating that the program aims to equip the youth for both government and private sectors. Post-certification, participants will receive entrepreneurial training to start their businesses.
Philip Patton highlighted the role of mobile repair technicians in maintaining connectivity, stating that the acquired skills have broader applications. L. Toshimeren Longkumer noted the promising potential among Nagas in Drone Service Technician roles, indicating their fast learning ability.
In closing, Er. Kevin Khezhie, Director of NagaBots, Tech Ventures Pvt. Ltd., encouraged trainees to not just seek jobs but become job creators. The program commenced with an invocation by Vikhoto Zao, Assistant Pastor of Peniel Church, Kohima, followed by a culturally resonant performance by the trainees.
Implemented by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship through the National Skill Development Corporation, the PMKVY initiative aims to provide industry-relevant skill training, promoting employment and self-employment opportunities across India.
