Shocking Victory: Two Assam Drug Peddlers Captured in Naharlagun & Banderdewa
Itanagar: Two Interstate Drug Peddlers Arrested in Arunachal Pradesh
In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, police from Naharlagun and Banderdewa arrested two interstate drug peddlers in separate operations on Friday.
The first arrest was executed by a police team led by Inspector K Dev, in collaboration with Assam Police. Ainul Rajibul Hussain, also known as Raja, a habitual drug peddler from Bihpuria in Assam’s Lakhimpur district, was apprehended. Hussain had been on the police radar since August 18 when he allegedly distributed contraband drugs in Naharlagun while driving a white Scorpio car without a number plate. Despite an earlier escape attempt where he rammed through a police barricade, Hussain was finally taken into custody in connection to a previously registered case at the Naharlagun police station.
In a separate operation, Banderdewa police successfully detained another drug peddler from Bihpuria, identified as Sonu Deori, alias Bikash Deori. Approximately 5.48 grams of suspected heroin were recovered from Deori’s possession.
Both operations were conducted under the supervision of Naharlagun SP Mihin Gambo. The arrested individuals face charges under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
These successful apprehensions underscore local law enforcement agencies’ resolute efforts to combat drug trafficking in the region.
