Shocking Incident: One Bangladeshi and Four Rohingyas Apprehended at Agartala Railway Station
Late Saturday night, five individuals were apprehended by railway authorities at the Agartala Railway Station for attempting to travel within India without proper documentation. The detained group comprised one Bangladeshi national and four Rohingya individuals. Their capture resulted from a coordinated effort between the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRP).
GRP Officer-in-Charge Tapas Das, addressing the matter on Sunday, disclosed that the initial interrogation revealed the suspects had entered India illegally. The detainees admitted to having crossed the international border unlawfully and were planning to travel to major Indian cities, including Chennai, Gujarat, and Hyderabad.
“We have registered a case against them and forwarded them to court,” Das confirmed, underscoring the absence of any legal travel documents among the individuals.
The authorities identified the Bangladeshi national as Sukur Ali from Comilla, Bangladesh. The four Rohingya detainees were named Amir Haqil, Yasmin Akhtar, Md Tareq, and Md Ulla.
This incident highlights ongoing concerns regarding illegal immigration and the need for stringent enforcement of immigration laws. The detainees now face legal proceedings, reflecting the serious stance taken by Indian authorities on unauthorized entry and movement within the country.
