Dimapur Implements Major Traffic Diversions for Road Over Bridge Repair from Oct 1
DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 27: The Commissioner of Police, Dimapur, has issued a traffic advisory in response to rehabilitation work set to commence on the Road Over Bridge (ROB) near Hotel Tragopan along National Highway 29, following directives from the Nagaland Works and Housing Department. The traffic changes, effective from October 1, will impact vehicular movement until the project’s completion, which remains unspecified.
Heavy Vehicles Rerouted:
All heavy vehicles entering Dimapur from Dillai Gate and New Field Gate, heading towards Chumoukedima and Kohima, will use the Khatkati CRPF Group Centre Charali Dimapur Bypass that connects via the 4-lane highway. Vehicles delivering cargo to areas like Nagarjan, Supermarket, Burma Camp, and Purana Bazar must also follow this bypass, with heavy commercial vehicles banned within Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) jurisdiction from 7:00 AM daily, excluding medium-sized school buses. Additionally, military and paramilitary heavy vehicles are restricted from using the city flyover during the rehabilitation.
Diversions for Light and Medium Vehicles:
Alternative routes have been devised for light and medium vehicles. Cars entering western Dimapur from Chumoukedima or Kohima should use the Thahekhu route through Nagaland Zoological Park. Vehicles heading to Assam are advised to use Kushiabill or Veterinary Burma Camp roads via Kvimab Check Gate.
Key Traffic Changes:
- Deluxe Point to Holy Cross Police Point: One-way street with restricted two-wheeler parking on the right.
- City Tower to Holy Cross Police Point: Vehicles must continue straight to Dhobinallah.
- Khermahal to Deluxe Point: Designated as one-way.
- GS Road to Durga Mandir: Two-way traffic.
- Kalibari Road from Jain Temple Gate to Durga Mandir Junction: One-way.
- Commercial vehicles restricted from using the Tourist Point Flyover, Eros Lane Junction, and MP Road between Dhobinallah and City Tower from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM.
Motorists are advised to plan accordingly to avoid disruptions. Dimapur police assure that these measures aim to minimize inconvenience and maintain smooth traffic flow throughout the repair period.
