Phenomenal Surge: Bengaluru Colleges Thrill with Enhanced Recruitment and Soaring Salary Packages
Engineering colleges in Bengaluru are witnessing a significant demand surge for core branches like civil, electrical, and mechanical engineering. Following a period of job market instability, many institutions are now experiencing their most successful placement seasons since the pandemic.
Thanks to attractive salary packages and a rise in recruitment, placement officers report a favorable shift. Subjects like engineering and management, which faced a downturn due to the global economic slowdown, are rebounding. This positive trend is evident in colleges like Bangalore Institute of Technology, where 65% of placements were completed within weeks, with the highest offer reaching ₹57 lakh per annum.
The trend extends to PES University, where demand for core engineering roles has risen notably. “Companies, including those from the semiconductor industry, are arriving earlier than usual,” observed K.S. Sridhar, Dean of Placements at the university, which saw packages as high as ₹45 lakh per annum and 350 students placed in 44 companies.
Undergraduate and postgraduate programs are also benefiting. Kristu Jayanti College hosted over 100 companies this year, reporting average packages of ₹3.5-4 lakh per annum for UG students and ₹8 lakh per annum for PG students, with early salary increments becoming commonplace.
Beyond IT firms, leading recruiters now include the service, marketing, finance, and banking sectors. Student optimism is high, as evidenced by Pavana G., an engineering student who noted the improvement compared to previous years.
City-wide, placement officers note a 5-10% increase in recruitment numbers. Fouzia Khanum, Placement Officer at Jyoti Nivas College, expects higher salary packages this year, predicting a promising placement season ahead.
