Ruopfuzhano Whiso Shines in Top 4 of Miss Universe India 2024

Nagaland’s pride, Ruopfuzhano Whiso, has made her mark on the national stage by securing a spot in the Top 4 of Miss Universe India 2024, held at Zee Studios in Jaipur. Competing against 50 contestants from across India, Whiso’s journey was distinguished by her elegance and articulate presence, advancing through Top 20, Top 10, and finally to the Top 4.
Reflecting on her experience, Whiso shared, “It was an incredible journey meeting and learning from all the contestants. This experience has reshaped my perspective on what I can be. I deeply appreciate everyone’s support and feel it’s a victory for all who stood behind me.”
In the final Q&A segment, Whiso addressed the challenges facing women in India, emphasizing that fear, driven by increasing reports of assaults and rapes, is a major obstacle. "Many women have been silenced, and it’s heartbreaking," she said. She vowed to use her platform to empower women to stand up for justice and be authentic.
Whiso’s concept of beauty transcends physical appearance. "True confidence involves kindness, humility, and being unapologetically oneself," she remarked. Her representation of Naga heritage, known for warmth and hospitality, was evident throughout the competition. Her ‘Beauty with a Purpose’ initiative, Project Elders Enclave, supports elderly citizens through collaboration with Good Samaritans Seniors Citizens Home.
In the National Costume round, Whiso honored her roots by wearing an outfit inspired by Nagaland’s state flower, the rhododendron, garnished with traditional beads.
Whiso’s journey began with wins in Miss Kohima 2017, first runner-up in Miss Nagaland 2017, and culminated in her title as Miss Universe Nagaland 2024 at an open audition organized by the Beauty and Aesthetics Society of Nagaland (BASN). Her Top 4 finish is a historic milestone for Nagaland in Miss Universe India, and she continues to inspire young women across the state and beyond.
