Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt. General KT Parnaik (Retd.) has personally adopted two tuberculosis (TB) patients from the Kra Daadi District as part of his commitment to the Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan. During a historic visit to the region, Governor Parnaik engaged with one of the TB patients in Tali, promising monthly food baskets to support their recovery.
Governor Parnaik’s visit marked the first time a state governor has reached the remote administrative circles of Pipsorang and Tali. Using this rare opportunity, he reviewed local development programs and connected directly with villagers from Vibrant Border Villages.
Highlighting community involvement, Governor Parnaik urged those with resources to adopt TB patients, aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ambitious goal to eradicate TB in India by 2025, ahead of the global schedule. He emphasized door-to-door awareness campaigns and called upon health officials and government workers to energize public participation in TB eradication efforts. Parnaik underscored the potential of drones for delivering medicines to hard-to-reach areas like Pipsorang.
Throughout his tour, Governor Parnaik assessed advancements in four key sectors: health, education, infrastructure, and tourism. He stressed the necessity of having at least four basic specialists in district hospitals and encouraged education officials to tackle the issue of school dropouts.
Promoting economic growth, Governor Parnaik suggested adopting a Bhutanese tourism model to nurture entrepreneurship and self-employment among the youth. He also advocated for leveraging technology and automation to enhance project planning and execution.
The governor’s proactive measures and visionary approach signal a comprehensive plan to uplift the region, enhance public health, and drive socio-economic development.
