Bengaluru Woman Found Murdered, Dismembered Body Discovered in Refrigerator
In a shocking incident in Bengaluru, the dismembered body of a 29-year-old woman, Mahalakshmi, was discovered inside a refrigerator in her one-bedroom apartment in Malleshwaram. The Bengaluru Police, responding to complaints of a foul smell by locals on September 21, found 59 body parts of Mahalakshmi. Police Commissioner B Dayananda confirmed that a prime suspect, originally from Odisha but residing in Bengaluru, has been identified and is believed to be in West Bengal. Efforts are underway to apprehend him.
The police are investigating multiple angles, including the discovery of a blue suitcase near the refrigerator, which may indicate the intention to move the body. Six teams have been formed, some dispatched to other states, to further the investigation. A First Information Report (FIR) has been registered in the case.
Karnataka Home Minister Dr. G Parameshwara stated that the investigation is ongoing and that more details will be withheld to avoid aiding the suspect. The National Commission for Women (NCW) has urged the Karnataka Police to expedite the probe and ensure a thorough and timely investigation, requesting a detailed report within three days.
Mahalakshmi, of Nepalese descent, had lived in Karnataka for over three decades. She resided separately from her husband, Hemanth, who worked at a hermitage. The police are awaiting the post-mortem report to gather further insights into the case.
The gruesome nature of the crime has sent shockwaves through the community, and authorities are under pressure to resolve the case swiftly.
