Outrage in Assam: Coaching Academy Students Demand Justice After Devastating Arson Attack
Students Protest Following Arson Attack on Boko Coaching Academy
On Sunday, students from Boko Coaching Academy took to the streets, demanding justice after a recent arson incident ravaged their educational facility. The academy was mysteriously set on fire on September 12, inciting widespread anger among students and staff.
Ranjan Rabha, the academy’s owner, has pointed fingers at individuals linked to Tankeswar Rabha, the Chief of the Rabha Hasong Autonomous Council (RHAC). Rabha alleges the attack occurred merely two days after he hosted a press conference at the academy, revealing accusations about the RHAC Chief’s identity.
According to Rabha, Tankeswar Rabha is living under a false identity, claiming that his actual name is Sarania—a name he argues is not associated with the Rabha tribes according to their customary laws. This explosive claim has stirred the community further, adding complexity to the arson case and escalating tensions.
During the demonstration, both students and teachers called for immediate action from the authorities to arrest those involved in the incident. Bearing placards, they voiced their outrage, emphasizing the sanctity of educational institutions. “We have nothing to say about why it was burnt, but we condemn the burning of a sacred place like an educational institution and request the government to provide assistance for its reconstruction,” one placard read.
Meanwhile, the broader community remains watchful as the investigation unfolds, hoping for a swift and transparent resolution.
