Imphal: The Kuki Students’ Organisation (KSO) on Saturday criticized the Manipur government’s alert about potential militant attacks on the periphery of Imphal Valley, labelling it as "propaganda" and an attempt to malign their community.
Security advisor Kuldiep Singh had announced on Friday that hill districts in Churachandpur, Tengnoupal, Ukhrul, Kamjong, and Pherzawl were put on alert due to reports of possible militant threats around September 28. Singh’s statements followed a letter allegedly from the secretary of the CM to the DGP and the security advisor, claiming over 900 militants had entered Manipur from Myanmar aiming to attack rival community villages.
In response, KSO issued a statement dismissing these claims as fabricated, suggesting Singh’s press conference was done "under duress." Traditional operations now focus on materials for crafting rockets, missiles, drones, and bombs, with intense checks extending within a 5 km radius from affected areas.
"District magistrates are alerted, and extensive road and village checks are underway," Singh stated.
