Karnataka | Company News: Amrut Sensationally Unveils Jaggery-Distilled Rum ‘Bella’ – A Game-Changer in Spirits!
Bengaluru-based Amrut Distilleries has unveiled Bella, a new jaggery-distilled and matured single rum. This launch, marking the company’s 75th anniversary, was announced during a media briefing. Bella, crafted entirely from nutrient-rich jaggery sourced from Karnataka’s Sahyadri range and Mandya, matured for six years in ex-bourbon barrels under tropical conditions.
Bella, meaning “jaggery” in Kannada, is notable for being the first rum to receive a production license from the Karnataka Excise Board, retailing at Rs 3,500. Initially available in the USA and Karnataka, it will soon expand to West Bengal, Haryana, and Maharashtra, with a nationwide rollout planned by Dussehra.
Rakshit N Jagdale, MD of Amrut Distilleries, dedicated Bella to his father, highlighting the company’s pioneering efforts since 2012 in obtaining the first-ever license in India to distill jaggery single rum. Bella’s flavor profile features a blend of coconut, vanilla, marzipan, a hint of citrus, chocolatey vanilla, green almond, and a sweet almondy finish.
This launch follows Amrut’s 2013 introduction of Two Indies Rum, combining Indian jaggery with Caribbean molasses, reinforcing India’s deep-rooted tradition of using jaggery in rum production.
