As Apple’s iPhone 16 series hits the Indian market today, throngs of eager customers were seen queuing outside the Apple store at Mumbai’s BKC, India’s first official Apple store. Notably, Apple plans to commence assembling the iPhone Pro Series in India for the first time, though these models will be available at a later date, according to sources cited by PTI.
The iPhone 16 Pro is priced starting at ₹1,19,900, while the iPhone 16 Pro Max starts at ₹1,44,900. Their predecessors, the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, were launched with starting prices of ₹1,34,900 and ₹1,59,900, respectively. The new Pro series will be available in storage capacities of 128GB, 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB, featuring the largest displays in the iPhone series with sizes of 6.3 inches and 6.9 inches.
Despite the local assembly, there is no price change for the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus, which will retail starting at ₹79,900 and ₹89,900, respectively. These models will be available in 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB storage options.
Next month, Apple plans to release a software update to roll out the US English version of the Apple Intelligence feature on the iPhone 16 series. This feature will allow users to rewrite, proofread, and summarize text. Additionally, users can record, transcribe, and summarize audio in the Notes and Phone apps. During a call, all participants will be notified when recording starts, with Apple Intelligence providing key point summaries.
The iPhone 16 Pro series will be powered by the A18 Pro chip, including a 6-core GPU designed to enhance AI capabilities. According to Apple, this chip is up to 20% faster than its predecessor and offers a 6-core CPU that handles workloads 15% more efficiently. The iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus will feature the A18 chip, which boasts a 6-core CPU that is 30% faster than the A16 Bionic chip and outperforms all competitors. These models will include a 5-core GPU, offering up to 40% faster performance and 35% greater efficiency than the A16 Bionic.
