Tragic Loss: 23-Year-Old Biker Fatally Struck by Wrong-Way Car in Heartbreaking Gurugram Collision
In a tragic incident early Sunday morning, a 23-year-old biker named Akshat Garg from Dwarka, Delhi, was killed when his motorcycle was struck by a car driving in the wrong direction in Gurugram. The accident occurred on Golf Course Road near Belvedere Park, DLF Phase II. Garg, who was equipped with safety gear including a helmet and gloves, was on a motorcycle ride with his friend Pradyuman Kumar, 22, who trailed about 100 feet behind on another bike.
The two friends had set out from different locations, planning to meet a group of bikers at Ambience Mall after departing from DLF Downtown. As they approached a turn after the Sikanderpur-Cyberhub flyover, a speeding Mahindra XUV 300 appeared from the wrong direction and collided head-on with Garg’s bike. According to police and a Hindustan Times report quoting a senior officer, neither Garg nor the car driver had any chance to avoid the collision. The impact was so severe that Garg was flung over the car, and his motorcycle was completely mangled.
An ambulance arrived within five minutes and rushed Garg to a nearby hospital in DLF Phase-II, but doctors pronounced him dead upon arrival. Two men in their mid-20s and a dog were found inside the car. Commuters apprehended them and handed them over to the police. Kumar, who rushed to Garg’s aid, found his friend unresponsive seconds after attempting to open his helmet.
Kumar stated the car was driving in the wrong direction in a fast-moving lane, and his helmet-mounted GoPro camera recorded the entire accident. However, police did not take a copy of the footage despite viewing it.
This incident highlights significant issues related to road safety and law enforcement in the area.
