22-Year-Old Woman in Chennai Dies of Suspected Food Poisoning
A 22-year-old woman from Noombal, near Vanagaram in Chennai, has allegedly died of food poisoning after consuming shawarma. Swetha, a teacher residing on Thiruveedi Amman Street, had eaten shawarma from a local eatery over a week ago when she was out with her brother. Upon returning home, she also had fish curry. That night, she began vomiting and fainted, prompting her family to rush her to a private hospital in Porur. As her condition deteriorated, she was transferred to Government Stanley Hospital on September 17, 2024. Unfortunately, Swetha passed away the following day. The Maduravoyal police have registered a case and are awaiting the postmortem report to confirm if the food she consumed was the cause of her death. The investigation is ongoing.
