Tragic Discovery in Mawlai: Bodies of Missing Woman and Child Recovered
Shillong, Sep 19: In a tragic turn of events, the police from Mawlai Police Station recovered the bodies of a woman and a five-year-old girl on Thursday. The bodies were found floating at Wah Umshing near Mawiong Macdonald Road.
The deceased have been identified as Niancy Riahtam and Erika Thabah (5), residents of Dong Tariang A, Mawiong Umjapung. The two had been reported missing since Wednesday afternoon. The pair were last spotted at Mawiongrim ISBT, raising concerns within the community about their sudden disappearance.
According to the police, the bodies were discovered by locals around 1 PM. The discovery led to immediate action, and the bodies were subsequently transferred to the Civil Hospital in Shillong for post-mortem examinations to determine the cause of death.
