Exciting News: Orunodoi 3.0 Launches in Assam, Transforming Lives of 37.2 Lakh Beneficiaries
The Assam government has inaugurated the third edition of its flagship poverty alleviation initiative, ‘Orunodoi 3.0,’ significantly expanding its outreach to 37.2 lakh beneficiaries. Launched on Thursday, September 19, this edition includes 12.5 lakh new recipients compared to its predecessor, making it Assam’s largest state-run Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) program.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma celebrated the milestone, noting the expansion of the scheme. “Today is a historic day as we are expanding this scheme,” he stated in a video on X, highlighting that ‘Orunodoi 3.0’ will include over 12 lakh additional women beneficiaries.
During the launch event in Guwahati, the Chief Minister distributed Orunodoi Cards to new beneficiaries. Under this edition, women from low-income families will receive a monthly stipend of Rs 1,250, directly deposited into their bank accounts on the 10th of each month.
The district administration will meticulously select new beneficiaries, ensuring that those who qualified in previous editions remain included unless they no longer meet the updated criteria.
The Orunodoi scheme, first introduced on December 1, 2020, aims to empower women by offering financial assistance to underprivileged households. A second edition was launched on December 14, 2022, expanding the pool of recipients.
With ‘Orunodoi 3.0,’ the Assam government strives to further combat poverty and secure financial stability for women throughout the state.
