Assam Triumphs as Best Digipay Sakhi State in August 2024, Elevating Financial Inclusion Nationwide!

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced on September 19 that Assam has been recognized as the Best Digipay Sakhi State for August 2024. The state achieved a commendable milestone by recording transactions worth Rs 20.13 crore.

Sarma lauded the collaborative efforts behind women’s empowerment initiatives and expressed gratitude for the recognition. “Congratulations to all on achieving this milestone as we seek to further our efforts in Nari Sashaktikaran,” he stated.

The Digipay Sakhi program, under the Digital India initiative, aims to empower women by improving their access to financial services. Assam’s leadership in this sector underscores the effectiveness of its digital outreach and financial literacy campaigns.

Karnataka, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, and Madhya Pradesh followed Assam in the top five states, with transactions amounting to Rs 9.33 crore, Rs 2.03 crore, Rs 1.84 crore, and Rs 1.76 crore respectively.

In related news, the Assam Women Journalists’ Forum has partnered with Gauhati University for a session on climate change and gender.
