ICGS Sujay Makes Strategic Port Call in Bali to Enhance Bilateral Maritime Cooperation
BALI, INDONESIA – The Indian Coast Guard Offshore Patrol Vessel ICGS Sujay, equipped with an integral helicopter, made a significant port call in Bali, Indonesia, as a part of its ongoing deployment to East Asia. This visit underscores the strategic partnership and maritime cooperation between India and Indonesia.
During the visit, the crew of ICGS Sujay will engage in specialized interactions with the Indonesian Maritime Security Agency (BAKAMLA). These discussions are slated to focus on key areas such as marine pollution response, maritime search and rescue, and maritime law enforcement. The joint activities will include cross-deck training, collaborative yoga sessions, and friendly sports events, fostering camaraderie and professional exchange between the two maritime agencies.
The Indian Coast Guard has highlighted that the visit aims to fortify the relations between the two countries while demonstrating India’s prowess in shipbuilding under the Atmanirbhar Bharat (Self-Reliant India) initiative. This strategic outreach emphasizes not only operational collaboration but also showcases India’s advancements in maritime technology and capabilities.
Adding an environmental dimension to the visit, 10 National Cadet Corps (NCC) cadets aboard ICGS Sujay will partake in an Environment Protection Walkathon. This initiative, organized in collaboration with local youth organizations, aims to raise awareness about the dangers of marine plastic pollution. This activity aligns with the Indian government’s Puneet Sagar Abhiyan, which focuses on cleaning up marine ecosystems and bolstering international engagement in environmental conservation.
