Heartbreaking Injustice: T.N. Native Wrongfully Accused of Attempted Murder Faces Devastating Charges
The Nedumangad police on Tuesday arrested a man from Tamil Nadu for allegedly attempting to murder a youth who intervened in a chain snatching incident. The suspect, identified as 25-year-old Nanda Seelran from Paramakudi in Ramapuram district, tried to snatch a gold chain from a woman riding a scooter in Puthenpalam around noon on September 10. The woman fell during the struggle, prompting Bennet, a local from Venkavila, to pursue the assailant on another motorcycle.
When Bennet caught up with Nanda near Pathinonnam Kallu, the suspect allegedly poured petrol on him and attempted to set him on fire. Nanda then fled by jumping into the Killi river, later buying new clothes in Pazhakutty and escaping to Tamil Nadu on a bus to Nagercoil. The police tracked Nanda by locating his phone at the scene.
A team led by Nedumangad DySP T.S. Kiran, with sub-inspectors S.H. Mithun and Sreejith, and civil police officers Jijin, Jiju, and Sujith, arrested Nanda in Tamil Nadu. This incident underscores the bravery of Bennet and the swift response of the Nedumangad police.
