Discover the 50 Most Luxurious and Breathtaking Hotels in the World for 2024
Capella Bangkok has been crowned the world’s best hotel for 2024 by the esteemed “50 Best” organization. Offering 101 suites and villas with stunning views of Bangkok’s Chao Phraya River, this luxury hotel starts at $600 per night. The accolade comes from 600 anonymous global voters, including travel journalists and industry specialists. Capella Bangkok advanced from No. 11 in 2023 to claim the top spot, boasting five dining options—one by Michelin-starred chef Mauro Colagreco—along with a spa, and seven riverside villas featuring private plunge pools.
After the announcement in London’s Guildhall, General Manager John Blanco expressed immense pride and gratitude, highlighting the recognition for Capella’s dedicated staff. Josephine Ping, director of sales and marketing, emphasized the hotel’s commitment to providing an authentic Thai experience.
The list also includes notable mentions such as Passalacqua in Italy’s Lake Como at No. 2 and Rosewood Hong Kong at No. 3. The awards inaugurated last year have already gained prestige comparable to the organization’s well-known rankings for restaurants and bars.
In addition to the main awards, individual accolades were given: Raffles London at the OWO was the highest new entry at No. 13, Atlantis The Royal in Dubai earned the Highest Climber Award, and Bulgari Tokyo was named the Best New Hotel. Other notable recognitions went to Soneva Fushi in The Maldives as the Best Beach Hotel, and the Royal Mansour in Morocco for The Art of Hospitality. Passalacqua secured the Best Boutique Hotel, and Maroma Riviera Maya was awarded for its eco-friendly initiatives. Rosewood Hotel Group CEO Sonia Cheng received the Icon Award.
The list spans destinations across six continents, with Asia leading with 19 entries. Top-ranked hotels in each continent include Capella Bangkok (Asia), Passalacqua (Europe), and Chablé Yucatán (North America). Voting was based on individual preferences and experiences of voters who stayed at the hotels within the last two years.
