Outrage as Guwahati FIR Targets VDP Secretary for Horrific Assault Attempt on Minor Girl
FIR Filed Against Village Defence Party Secretary for Attempted Rape of 14-Year-Old Girl
Silchar: A Village Defence Party (VDP) secretary in the Dholai block of Cachar district has been accused of attempting to rape a 14-year-old girl. The incident, which transpired on September 3, only came to light recently when the police recorded the victim’s statement.
On the day in question, the girl went to the accused’s shop to buy a pen on her way to school. As she attempted to leave, the accused allegedly muffled her, dragged her to a room behind the shop, and groped and molested her with an intent to rape. The girl, however, managed to escape by biting the accused’s hand and ran home.
Traumatized by the assault, the girl refrained from attending school for several days. Unaware of the incident, her father sent her back to school on September 12. On that day, the accused confronted her again, warning her not to disclose the incident.
The girl’s bravery surfaced when she confided in her science teacher, leading to the headmaster being informed. The headmaster immediately notified her father, who, after consulting with school authorities and the local gaon panchayat, filed an FIR at the Lailapur police patrol post.
In related news, a 22-year-old man in Trichy district was arrested for raping and impregnating a minor girl. Separately, authorities in Sangli detained both a gym operator and a nurse for allegedly raping a 17-year-old girl. Furthermore, a minor girl in Chinhat, Lucknow, was raped at knifepoint on September 12, with the technician involved now in custody.
These incidents underline the alarming trend of sexual offenses against minors, demanding urgent attention and stringent legal action to ensure the safety and justice for young victims.
