Shocking Declaration: Former NPCC President Calls Nagaland Consultative Meeting on Political Solution Futile
The much-anticipated State Government Consultative Meeting held on September 12, 2024, to discuss Nagaland’s political solution has been labeled as “futile and a waste” by former NPCC President K. Therie. Therie strongly criticized the state’s leadership, likening them to a modern-day Herod, driven more by personal ambitions than the will of the people.
Therie expressed his disappointment that attending organizations failed to represent the voices of the people properly. He stressed the importance of adhering to the two existing agreements and the conclusion of talks on October 31, 2019, urging for their implementation rather than reopening discussions.
Furthermore, Therie condemned the resolution passed during the meeting, arguing that it unfairly shifted the responsibility back to the Government of India and called for the appointment of a new interlocutor. He viewed this move as a deviation from the signed agreements, which he insisted were endorsed by national leaders and should not be altered.
“The agreements were signed in the presence of national leaders and should not be altered,” Therie reiterated.
This adds to the increased scrutiny and ongoing debates around Nagaland’s political future, highlighting the dissatisfaction with current political processes and leadership dynamics.
