Aaranyak Conducts Hospitality Management Training for Manas Landscape Stakeholders
GUWAHATI: Aaranyak, a prominent biodiversity conservation organization, recently organized a two-day hospitality management training program aimed at enhancing the skills of homestay owners and catering groups from the Manas Landscape in Assam.
Held at Aaranyak’s Manas Conservation and Outreach Centre in Bhuyanpara, Baksa, the training took place on September 11 and 12. It was designed to provide stakeholders from Majrabari, Rangapani, and Daodhara villages with the essential skills necessary to improve their services for tourists. The comprehensive program covered room and kitchen management, guest service, sustainable cooking, hygiene, and meal preparation.
Expert instructors Rehan Ali from IORA Retreat and Puneswar Dadhara from Aranya Lodge in Kohora shared their extensive knowledge with participants. A highlight of the training was the focus on preparing both traditional and non-traditional delicacies, with practical cooking sessions to ensure hands-on learning. Rehan Ali stressed the value of traditional cuisine in attracting tourists seeking authentic cultural experiences.
Beyond culinary skills, the program also focused on other critical hospitality aspects such as room management and bed-making techniques. Participants gained practical insights and valuable guidance from industry experts.
Rahul Basumatary, a homestay owner from Rangapani, expressed his gratitude for the training, highlighting its significant role in enhancing his homestay management capabilities.
Aaranyak’s initiative is in line with its mission to support indigenous communities and promote sustainable livelihoods. By equipping communities near key wildlife habitats with hospitality skills, Aaranyak aims to empower them to engage in community-based nature tourism. This, in turn, helps them supplement their incomes while contributing to conservation efforts.
