BJP Celebrates Historic Membership Surge in Sikkim, Leaders Passionately Urge Karyakartas to Empower Enrollment
A significant review meeting was held today at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) office in Gangtok, focusing on the party’s successful nationwide membership drive. The meeting was spearheaded by BJP National General Secretary Dushyant Kumar Gautam and BJP Sikkim State President Shri DR Thapa. Party officials and karyakartas (party workers) convened to discuss strategies to further amplify the campaign’s reach within the state.
Since its launch on September 2, the BJP’s membership drive has seen a remarkable surge, with over 2 crore new members joining nationwide. Sikkim has contributed more than 2,000 new members to the expanding political movement.
Shri Gautam, during his address, elaborated on the party’s foundational values, its historical significance, and the struggles it has faced. He stressed the importance of bolstering the BJP’s presence in Sikkim, a strategically crucial border state, and motivated the karyakartas to continue enrolling new members. He shared insights from his participation in the campaign earlier in the day at a village near Nathula.
Shri DR Thapa encouraged party workers to advance the membership drive and raise awareness about welfare schemes initiated under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government, particularly emphasizing the employment opportunities created by these initiatives.
The meeting concluded with the attendees unanimously passing a resolution expressing gratitude to Prime Minister Modi for the expansion of the Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY scheme. The resolution specifically praised the inclusion of all senior citizens above the age of 70, fulfilling a promise made during the recent general elections. Party members congratulated Prime Minister Modi and Union Health Minister Shri JP Nadda for this critical welfare program, underscoring the BJP’s commitment to social security.
