Defiant and Determined: Engineer Rasheed Vows to Fight Centre’s ‘Naya Kashmir’ Narrative After Release
National News Alert
New Delhi, Sept 11: Engineer Rasheed, a Lok Sabha member, declared his intent to challenge Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Naya Kashmir’ narrative following his interim release from Tihar Jail. "I will fight PM Modi’s narrative of Naya Kashmir until my last breath," Rasheed asserted, emphasizing the June 4 general election results as a repudiation of Modi’s perspective. According to Rasheed, the election victory in his constituency served as a referendum against Modi’s failed vision for Kashmir.
Rasheed censured former J&K Chief Ministers Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti, dismissing the need for their validation. He highlighted his significant electoral victory over Abdullah as his true "certificate of trust" from the people. He further lambasted Abdullah for labeling him an "agent," clarifying that he proudly represents his constituents.
Rasheed reflected on his harrowing five-year stint in Tihar Jail, drawing attention to the plight of Kashmiri prisoners, including Altaf Ahmed Fantosh, who died due to inadequate medical care. He stressed his commitment to his people’s welfare and urged the youth to focus on their education and careers, assuring them he would handle political battles on their behalf.
The court granted Rasheed bail until October 2 to enable him to campaign for his party in the upcoming three-phased J&K Assembly elections, concluding on October 1. He is scheduled to surrender back to Tihar Jail on October 3. "If fighting for my people means spending more time in Tihar, I am ready," Rasheed stated.
