Renowned lyricist and filmmaker Sreekumaran Thampi was honored with the Legend of Honour award by the Malayalam Cine Technicians’ Association (MACTA) during a special event held on Saturday, September 7, 2024. The award, which marked the 30th anniversary of the association, included a cash prize of one lakh rupees, a citation, and a memento. Esteemed filmmaker Joshiy presented the award to Thampi and also inaugurated the anniversary celebrations by hoisting the association’s flag earlier in the day.
The ceremony saw the presence of notable figures from the Malayalam film industry, including filmmakers Sathyan Anthikad, B. Unnikrishnan, and Lal, as well as actor Aparna Balamurali. A symposium on ‘changing film appreciation’ was also part of the day’s events. The celebrations culminated with various cultural programs in the evening.
