Joyous Welcome: Maharashtra CM and Key Leaders Bring Home Lord Ganesh for a Grand Ganesh Chaturthi Celebration
On September 7, 2024, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde celebrated Ganesh Chaturthi by performing rituals at his official residence in Mumbai. Accompanied by his wife and MP son Shrikant Shinde, the Chief Minister conducted a ‘puja’ at Varsha, their official residence. Shinde expressed his prayers to Lord Ganesh for the state’s prosperity and highlighted the government’s commitment to supporting farmers affected by excessive rainfall despite overall good monsoons. He also emphasized Maharashtra’s leading position in attracting foreign direct investment (FDI), with a 52% share.
Simultaneously, other state officials engaged in the festival’s celebrations. Governor C.P. Radhakrishnan performed an ‘aarti’ at Raj Bhavan, while Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis welcomed the deity at his ‘Sagar’ bungalow. Fadnavis assured the public of heightened security measures during the festival and criticized any negative commentary about Maratha empire founder Chhatrapati Shivaji, stressing the need for accurate historical representation.
Union Minister Nitin Gadkari installed Lord Ganesh at his residence in Nagpur, while numerous political figures visited prominent Ganesh pandals across Mumbai. Shiv Sena (UBT) president Uddhav Thackeray, along with his family, visited the renowned ‘Lalbaugcha Raja’ mandal. Notably, senior NCP leader Chhagan Bhujbal, also the president of the Akhil Anjirwadi Sarvajanik Utsav Mandal, participated in celebrations in Mazgaon.
The festive spirit was evident across Maharashtra as leaders and citizens alike paid their respects to Lord Ganesh, underscoring the cultural significance of the ten-day festival.
