In a notable gathering last evening on September 5, BJP Sikkim State President Dr. Thapa attended a dinner hosted by Union Minister for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) Jyotiraditya Scindia. The event brought together key personalities from Sikkim, including boxing coach Sandhya Gurung, footballer Nirmal Chettri, Sikkim Hotel and Restaurant Association President Saradha Sharma, and radio jockey Priyanka Tamang. He drew attention to the dire state of National Highway 10, Sikkim’s main connectivity route, which was severely damaged by last year’s Teesta Flood. Urging for immediate infrastructure improvements, Thapa called for advanced solutions to ensure consistent connectivity.
Expanding the conversation, Dr. Thapa also underscored the immense potential of Sikkim’s tourism sector, a crucial employment generator for the state. He appealed to Minister Scindia to explore new avenues for tourism development, advocating leveraging Sikkim’s rich cultural heritage and stunning natural landscapes.
