Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan has emerged as the highest tax-paying Indian celebrity for the fiscal year 2024. After delivering box office hits grossing over Rs 2,000 crore globally, SRK tops the list of top 10 highest tax-paying celebrities, according to Fortune India.
The list features prominent personalities from Bollywood, sports, and South Indian cinema. SRK has surpassed notable figures like Amitabh Bachchan, Akshay Kumar, and Thalapathy Vijay. The “Chennai Express” actor reportedly paid Rs 92 crore in taxes this year.
Tamil superstar Thalapathy Vijay ranks second with a tax payment of Rs 80 crore, reflecting his significant contributions from the South Indian film industry and lucrative endorsements. Salman Khan occupies the third spot, contributing Rs 75 crore in taxes despite having no major releases. Amitabh Bachchan is fourth on the list, paying Rs 71 crore, bolstered by his recent appearance in Nag Ashwin’s “Kalki 2898AD.”
Cricket icon Virat Kohli is fifth, with a tax contribution of Rs 66 crore, joining other sports stars in the top 10 list such as MS Dhoni (Rs 38 crore) and Sachin Tendulkar (Rs 28 crore). Former cricketer Sourav Ganguly and current player Hardik Pandya are also among the top 20, with tax payments of Rs 23 crore and Rs 13 crore, respectively.
Notably, Akshay Kumar, previously lauded by the Income Tax Department as the highest taxpayer in 2022, is missing from this year’s top taxpayers list. Among actresses, Kareena Kapoor leads with Rs 20 crore, followed by Kiara Advani and Katrina Kaif with Rs 12 crore and Rs 11 crore, respectively.
This high-profile list underscores the substantial financial contributions made by Indian celebrities across various industries.
