Experience the Thrill: Lord’s to Host Epic ICC World Test Championship Final in June 2025
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has officially confirmed that the prestigious Lord’s Cricket Ground in London will host the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) final, slated to begin on June 11, 2025. This event will be the first time Lord’s serves as the venue for the WTC final, the foremost contest in Test cricket.
Per the ICC’s announcement, the highly anticipated one-off Test will run from June 11 to June 15, with June 16 designated as a reserve day in case of disruptions. This WTC final represents the third edition, following the inaugural final in Southampton in 2021—won by New Zealand—and the subsequent final at the Oval in 2023, claimed by Australia.
The final will feature the top two teams from the current WTC standings. Leading the pack is Rohit Sharma’s India, with Australia close behind. Despite participating in both previous WTC finals, India has yet to clinch the championship mace.
As the ongoing cycle progresses, several teams remain in contention for a spot in the final. Strong contenders include New Zealand (currently third), England (fourth), Sri Lanka (fifth), South Africa (sixth), and Bangladesh (seventh), setting up a fiercely competitive race.
This much-awaited final promises high stakes and thrilling cricket at one of the sport’s most venerable venues.
