Telangana News: Hyderabad Traffic Police Advises Work from Home Amid Heavy Rainfall
The Cyderabad Traffic Police has issued an advisory urging IT and IT service companies to permit employees to work from home due to continuous heavy rainfall in Telangana. In a post on social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter), D Joel Davis, IPS, Joint Commissioner, Cyderabad Traffic Police, emphasized the severe weather conditions and a red alert by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), recommending remote work for employees on Monday, 02.09.2024. He highlighted that this step aims to ensure the safety of employees and mitigate traffic congestion, aiding emergency services during the inclement weather.
Schools to Remain Closed
In response to the weather forecast, all primary and secondary schools in Hyderabad will remain closed on Monday. The Hyderabad district collector declared the closure to safeguard students, extending the holiday to all government, aided, and private schools.
Flood Relief Efforts
In Khammam, Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu inspected flood-affected areas and relief shelters, particularly in Vagavedu Village, Madhira Mandal, and directed officials to provide necessary support to flood victims.
Weather and Precautionary Measures
The water flow in Hussain Sagar Lake, Hyderabad, has increased due to the heavy rain. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has instructed government departments to remain vigilant. Dr. K Nagaratnam, Director of the Hyderabad Meteorological Centre, forecast light to moderate rainfall over the next three days, stating that the state has been issued red warnings for today and tomorrow. The IMD reported that the Southwest monsoon is active over Telangana, with very heavy rainfall in isolated areas and heavy rainfall across several districts.
