Torrential Rains Devastate Telangana and Andhra Pradesh for Second Day: Heartbreaking Toll Rises to 10 More Dead
Andhra Pradesh: CM Naidu Assesses Flood Damage in Vijayawada
Andhra Pradesh has been grappling with severe flooding, reporting nine rain-related deaths since August 31, with one individual still missing. Vijayawada emerged as one of the most affected districts, with neighborhoods like Ajit Singh Nagar and Police Nagar experiencing devastating floods. Residents were seen navigating through chest-deep waters, while numerous vehicles were left submerged.
In response to the crisis, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu undertook an urgent tour of the flood-stricken areas in Vijayawada. The state government has established 107 relief camps, providing shelter to 17,000 displaced individuals. During his visit, CM Naidu emphasized the critical situation caused by the surging rainwater, particularly pointing to the Budameru rivulet’s alarming inflow, which poses an ongoing threat as local rivers rise.
This crisis highlights the need for enduring flood management strategies and immediate relief efforts to mitigate further damage and ensure the safety of affected residents.
