Exciting News! Railways to Unveil Inspiring First Vande Metro Trains Next Month, Announces Minister
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced on Sunday that the Indian Railways will introduce Vande Metro trains to connect cities 100 to 200 kilometers apart. This initiative follows the success of the Vande Bharat trains. Two Vande Metro trains have successfully passed all required tests, and the first train is set to be launched next month. Full-scale production is expected to commence within the next 18 months, with multiple units being delivered monthly.
A significant milestone was achieved on August 3 when Southern Railway conducted a trial run of the Vande Metro rake in Chennai. Addressing concerns about food quality, Vaishnaw noted that only 0.01% of the daily 12-13 lakh meals served on trains receive complaints. He assured stringent action against any caterers or suppliers responsible for lapses.
In his address, Vaishnaw also criticised the previous Congress-led government for neglecting the Railways. He asserted that the current administration is focusing on structural reforms and tackling long-standing issues that should have been addressed years ago. “We are implementing the changes Congress and the UPA should have done,” Vaishnaw stated.
The introduction of Vande Metro is seen as a strategic move to enhance connectivity and service quality within the Indian Railways network.
