Frustrated Shoppers: Amazon’s Labor Day Sale Checkout Glitch Leaves Deals Unclaimed
A worker at an Amazon fulfillment center in the Bronx, New York, prepared packages on Prime Day, July 16, 2024, witnessing a 13% increase in sales within the first six hours compared to last year, as reported by Momentum Commerce. However, on the following Friday, Amazon’s checkout function encountered technical issues, preventing customers from completing purchases and displaying error messages with dog images. The outage, which did not stem from Amazon Web Services, led customers to voice their frustrations on social media.
Despite ongoing promotions for Labor Day sales, the glitch hindered purchases of discounted products. Amazon has already notified investors that technical problems can significantly affect sales and public perception. An Amazon spokesperson did not immediately comment on the issue. Sales for the second quarter remained robust at nearly $148 billion.
